I decided to pursue my passion and left my first accounting job. I didn’t want to be part of a big top-tiered firm because I didn’t want to be pigeonholed. So, I targeted small to mid-tiered firms and I started improving these firms one at a time.
I was the person that everyone leaned on when they needed help. I was patient and I did whatever it took to pass on my knowledge to others. I become a mentor in all the firms I worked in. I improved their systems and processes. I loved the fact that I could help others reach their potential, both personally and with knowledge, as well as improve each and every firm.
I made my way up that ladder from the very bottom of the accounting food chain to becoming a senior manager. With a bit of heart and passion, it can be done. But that isn’t the end of my journey…
